Survivorship Care After Stem Cell Transplant

Patients who receive a stem cell transplant have unique survivorship and long-term follow-up care needs. A stem cell transplant is an important treatment of cancer, but it can also increase patients’ chances of developing other health problems in the future. These patients need ongoing monitoring by their health team.

Some common needs for patients following a stem cell transplant include:

  • getting immunizations
  • monitoring for cardiovascular risk factors
  • screening for secondary solid malignancies
