Data & Research

Cancer Care Ontario uses high-quality data to help make informed, fact-based decisions and products to support our cancer system. Our research supports improvements and innovations in cancer prevention, clinical practice and cancer service delivery.

CCO collects data from facilities, patients, and our health system partners for research, and health system management and planning.

Using these data, CCO’s team of experts, including epidemiologists, methodologists, statisticians, analysts and clinicians, works with our partners across the cancer system to produce:

  • evidence-based guidance, tools and advice on cancer care and services
  • reports on topics such as cancer surveillance, risk factors and cancer system quality in Ontario
  • datasets for cancer research
  • information for planning to ensure Ontario can meet the growing demands for greater accountability, better outcomes and improved patient experiences in the cancer system

These products and tools support healthcare providers, health system administrators, policy-makers, researchers and others in planning prevention initiatives, delivering high-quality care and improving the cancer system.
