CNS Reflexive Biomarker Testing Algorithms

The CNS Reflexive Biomarker Testing Algorithms provide an overview of best practices on reflexive testing for the clinical assessment and diagnosis of central nervous system (CNS) cancer patients in Ontario. Understand the specific diagnosis to guide the best course of clinical care advice.

The algorithms help clinicians appropriately triage and facilitate the management of patients with CNS cancers, and to ensure the approach to reflexive testing for CNS cancers is consistent across Ontario due to heterogeneity of CNS cancers.

The algorithms can be used by neuropathologists, medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, neuro-oncologists and neurosurgeons.

The CNS Reflexive Biomarker Testing Algorithms were developed based on evidence from clinical practice guidelines. In the absence of scientific evidence, the consensus of multidisciplinary experts in Ontario is used.

These algorithms build upon the Comprehensive Cancer Biomarker Testing Program.

Additional algorithms will be posted as they are available.
