First Nations, Inuit, Métis and Urban Indigenous Cancer Strategy (2024 to 2028)
The fifth First Nations, Inuit, Métis and Urban Indigenous Cancer Strategy is the result of a collaboration among First Nations, Inuit, Métis and urban Indigenous partners and Ontario Health. Together, we developed this strategy to address cancer issues and to create unique and diverse health care solutions.
The strategy is a roadmap describing how Ontario Health and Indigenous partners will continue to work together to:
- improve the performance of the cancer system for of First Nations, Inuit, Métis and urban Indigenous peoples in Ontario in a way that honours Indigenous concepts of wellbeing
- improve the wellbeing of First Nations, Inuit, Métis and urban Indigenous peoples in Ontario and reduce the burden of cancer in these communities
- empower supportive and healthy environments that build on the strengths of First Nations, Inuit, Métis and urban Indigenous individuals, families, communities and organizations
Eight Strategic Priorities
Between 2024 and 2028, we will work together with partners to focus on the following priorities:
- Build and sustain productive relationships
