The Hamilton Niagara Haldimand Brant Regional Cancer Program oversees the quality and delivery of cancer services for the areas of Brant, Burlington, Haldimand, Hamilton, Niagara and Norfolk.

Juravinski Cancer Centre
The Juravinski Cancer Centre (JCC) serves more than 1.4 million people from the Hamilton Niagara Haldimand Brant Local Health Integration Network and over 2 million Ontarians for selected services. The JCC sees more than 7,500 new patients each year. As a regional cancer centre, the JCC partners with other institutions and care providers to deliver high quality cancer care close to home. Its facilities include 10 linear accelerators and is 1 of 2 Ontario regional cancer centres to provide CyberKnife Radiosurgery.
The cancer centre serves approximately 40,000 people identifying as First Nation, Inuit, or Metis living in the region. This includes approximately 28,000 members of 1 of the 2 First Nations reserves: Six Nations of the Grand River Territory and Mississaugas of the New Credit First Nation. The region is also home to 2 Metis Nation of Ontario Councils (The Niagara Region Metis Council and the Hamilton-Wentworth Metis Council) as well as growing urban Indigenous populations.
In September 2014, the state-of-the-art CIBC Breast Assessment Centre opened to provide comprehensive, multidisciplinary expertise and care in the diagnosis of breast cancer, including a high-risk genetics program. The centre won the CCO Annual Quality Award in 2015 for its radiology/pathology rounds process and also received design awards, including the prestigious International Future Health Design Award.
Researchers at JCC and partner hospitals throughout the region, in collaboration with McMaster University, are international leaders in cancer research. They make significant contributions to the growing body of knowledge about cancer treatment and control around the world. The JCC includes a highly developed cancer clinical trials program. As an academic health sciences centre, the JCC is actively involved in educating and mentoring the next generation of physicians, health professionals and researchers.
A Patient Family Advisory Committee was implemented in 2013 to act as an advisory and information sharing body on matters critical to patients and families. The committee strives to enhance patient-centred care and improve the overall patient experience. A Patient and Family Resource Centre, conveniently located in the main lobby, provides information and a quiet place for reading.
Walker Family Cancer Centre
The Walker Family Cancer Centre opened in 2013 in St. Catharines. It is a major cancer care partner in the Local Health Integration Network and serves as the hub of coordinated cancer services for Niagara. The centre serves more than 2,500 new patients annually.
As a multidisciplinary facility, the centre provides cancer services in prevention, screening, supportive care, systemic and radiation treatment. The facility has 3 linear accelerators. It also has a well-established Cancer Council and Patient and Family Advisory Council.

Neil Johnson
Neil is a registered pharmacist receiving his pharmacy education at the Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Toronto. He completed a hospital pharmacy residency at the Kingston Health Sciences Centre before embarking on a clinical career in oncology pharmacy and a pharmacy leadership career that saw him lead the pharmacy department at the London Health Sciences Centre, provincial and national organizations as well as serving as board chair of the Canadian Society of Hospital Pharmacists.
After completing a Master’s in Business Administration at Wilfrid Laurier University he embarked on a health executive career leading numerous clinical and service portfolios at LHSC and at St Joseph’s Health Care London. He served as Regional Vice President of the South West Regional Cancer Program based on London for eight years and contributed to many committees and initiatives within Cancer Care Ontario. Neil also held positions as Chief Quality Officer, Chief Operating Officer and Interim Chief Executive Officer of LHSC before joining Hamilton Health Sciences in February 2022. At HHS, he serves as Vice President, Oncology, Site Executive Lead of the Juravinski Hospital, and Regional Vice President of the Hamilton, Niagara, Halton, Norfolk, Brant and Burlington Regional Cancer Program.
Neil also has a range of governance experience in small not-for-profit community based organizations and professional organizations and has provided consultation services to a variety of hospitals and private sector corporations. Neil is a Certified Health Executive and is a Fellow of the Canadian Society of Hospital Pharmacists.
